نان و پنیرِ گورگونزولا خوردیم
با جامِ شرابی بورگاندی،
از فروشگاه سوینی
سابونِ لیمویی خریدیم
و کنار رود گل‌آلودِ لیفی
زیر باران قدم زدیم.

فردا به قلعه‌ی بلارنی می‌رویم
تا سنگِ فصاحتِ ایرلندی را ببوسیم.
اما امشب در بسترِ گرممان
به یاد جیمز جویس و نورا
چون گوسفندانِ رنگینِ چراگاههای کورک
سر در پی هم می‌گذاریم
و در تاریکی می‌نالیم.

Today at Davy Byrne’s Pub
In memory of Leopold Bloom*
We had bread and Gorgonzola cheese
With a glass of Burgundy,
Bought lemon soap
From Sweny’s Shop
And walked in the rain
By the muddy Liffey River.

Tomorrow we go to Blarney Castle
To kiss the Irish stone of eloquence.
But tonight in our warm bed
In memory of James Joyce and Nora
We will chase each other
Like the colorful sheep of Cork meadows
And moan in the dark.
